As Carrie Bradshaw once said, "One of the best things about living in a city like New York is leaving it" (Season 1, Episode 3). Yes, I just quoted SATC! For all the ridiculous s**t Carrie says, this one certainly rings true. My best friend Michelle and her girlfriend Lacey invited Gerry and I to go apple picking on Long Island at Woodside Orchards, about an hour and a half drive outside the City. We woke up to a cloudy morning on Saturday, but our spirits were high for a day of picking apples in the country. Once we arrived at the Orchards we shared some hard ciders and a bag of delicious apple cider donuts. They were dangerously good! Next we bought bags for collecting apples. I was a bit surprised, they were $15 for a small bag but the taste of just-picked apples is certainly undeniable. We took a few photos before the drizzle started. We tried to get as many pictures as we could but it started really coming down so we rushed to actually get apples into our bag! It was quite funny. Despite the rain, we were in great moods from the fun afternoon! We got back into the car and headed to a restaurant called Love Lane Kitchen and I highly recommend it. It’s the cutest little cafe! We ordered Lobster Rolls (and a Veggie Burger for Gerry!) and I tried a yummy cocktail with tequila and apple cider! Two drinks in and I was getting silly! The drive back it rained the whole time and we spent the rest of the day cuddling under covers and eating, you guessed it, fresh apples. Such a great way to spend an afternoon.
